The Marriott Bonvoy HDFC Bank credit card is one of our favourite travel cards. It comes with an annual fee of just Rs 3000+GST and offers a free night award along with 10 elite night credits off the bat every year. So, this card is worth its fee in Gold for Marriott Bonvoy enthusiasts. However, we did not advise using the card as the reward points rate was too low. But, we have an amazing 5X points offer from HDFC Bank to change just that. The reward rates are quite lucrative and so are the caps on 5X rewards. You can:
- Spend Rs 2 Lakh in a calendar month on Marriott hotels before hitting the 5X cap of 53,335 Points/month
- Spend Rs 1 Lakh in a calendar month on Travel, Dining & Entertainment before hitting the 5X cap of 13,335 Points/month
We value each Marriott Bonvoy point at around 60 paise. But, if you can plan well you can extract a value close to Rs 1 or more as well. At 60 paise per MB point, we are getting a reward rate of 16% on Marriott spends and 8% on travel, dining and entertainment spends with this 5X offer. Pretty amazing!
Final Thoughts
This is a pretty great offer if you are a Marriott HDFC Bank credit card customer. It is strange that this offer is not being advertised widely. We just saw it on the Marriott Bonvoy app but did not get any email from HDFC Bank for this offer.
If you hold the Marriott HDFC card, then do plan to spend on the 5X categories to get a reward rate from 8% to 16%. Get the best out of this offer for these two months!
