Bank of Baroda Cashback Credit Card Review

BoB Cashback Credit Card

The Bank of Baroda Cashback Credit Card is the newest launch in India’s cashback credit card segment. Introduced at the Fintech Festival 2025, this is BoB Cards’ first pure cashback-focused product. With strong competitors like the SBI Cashback, HDFC Millennia, and Axis Ace, the big question is whether BoB’s new card offers enough value to earn a place in your wallet.

In this review, we break down the features, fees, cashback structure, MCC exclusions, the 4-transaction requirement, and real-world savings to help you decide if this card suits your lifestyle.

Annual Fee WaiverNot Available

BoB offers a monthly fee option of ₹49 and an annual option of ₹499. Looking at the math, the annual option makes more sense for regular users, but oddly there is no annual fee waiver based on spending. A waiver at ₹1 lakh or ₹1.5 lakh of annual spend would make this card much more competitive.

Bank of Baroda Cashback Credit Card – Cashback

You get 5% cashback on domestic online purchases, but only if you complete at least four transactions in the same statement cycle. If you do fewer than four, the 5% benefit does not apply.

The BoB Cashback Card excludes many key MCC categories like rent, wallets, supermarkets, government payments, telecom and insurance. These transactions will not earn any cashback.

Cashback Redemption

The cashback is automatically credited to your card account every month after your statement is generated. This works the same way as the SBI Cashback Card, making the redemption completely effortless.

Fuel Surcharge Waiver

We get a 1 percent fuel surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹250 per statement cycle. Cashback is not available on fuel spends, so this is only a surcharge waiver and not a reward benefit.

Who Should Apply for the BoB Cashback Credit Card?

This card is ideal for:

  • Users who spend frequently on domestic e-commerce
  • People who want a simple cashback system with auto-credit
  • Beginners looking for an easy-to-understand credit card

Avoid it if:

  • You are a heavy online spender and need a higher cashback cap
  • You want cashback on groceries, government services, fuel, and wallets
  • You prefer premium travel or lifestyle benefits

BoB Cashback vs SBI Cashback Card

A key factor to note is that the BoB Cashback Card has a lower monthly cashback cap than the SBI Cashback Card.

  • BoB Cashback Card: Max ₹1,500 per statement on online spends
  • SBI Cashback Card: Higher cap (₹5,000 per month) and broader eligibility on online spends

This difference makes SBI Cashback the better option for high-volume online shoppers.

Conclusion – Should you apply for the Bank of Baroda Cashback Credit Card?

The Bank of Baroda Cashback Credit Card is a strong option if you want a simple, beginner-friendly card with guaranteed cashback on online purchases. The 5% cashback rate is attractive, and the automatic statement credit makes the reward experience effortless.

However, for heavy online spenders, the lower cashback cap and many excluded MCC categories limit its overall value. If your monthly spends are moderate and fall mostly under regular online shopping, the BoB Cashback Card works well as it has a nominal annual fee. If you want higher cashback potential, the SBI Cashback Card remains superior.
