Fuel payment via ICICI Fastag is disabled

I have been trying to get to pay my petrol payments using the HP pay with ICICI fastag. Its been a long journey
1. started with getting a new fastag from ICICI and closing my old fastag
2. linked my HP Pay to it, but still did not work - fastag number not assigned
3. Called ICICI bank to get that updated, took a day to get that
4. Tried it again at the pump - still not working. Seems like ICICI needs to activate the fuel transaction on fastag
5. In order to do that, you need to send a hand written email to customer.care@icicibank.com asking for activation with all details including car number. Once done, we need to call customer care and ask them to activate. They will raise a ticket and ask us to wait 3 working days.

I am currently at that, if anyone has more information to avoid me more trouble, please help.

Nope, no shortcuts. We need to email on customersupport@icicibank.com and headservicequality@icicibank.com.

How useful is Fastag when compared to traditional payments at highway tolls? Can you save a lot through it?

Many highway tolls don't accept Cash now. Fastag is mandatory.

How to link fast tag in HP pay and pay for fuel transitions with it , please guide me, i am already using amazon pay icici fast tag for toll payments.

Is Amazon ICIC Fastag worth it? I can use Amazon GC for it too, right?

How to link fast tag in HP pay and pay for fuel transitions with it , please guide me, i am already using amazon pay icici fast tag for toll payments.

just call icici and get the fuel transaction on fastag activated. Then go to HP Pay, link your fastag with your vehicle number. Once done the amount will show up against the fastag. Go to HP, scan the hp pay qr code. select payment as fastag, icici will send otp. put the otp and you are done.

Some challenges - the process of payment can be very slow
-at some pumps, this will now work and shows invalid code. Best to identify a pump where it works and sticky to it.

I read somewhere that Indian Oil pumps also accept icici Fastag and just scan the fastag, not sure about it - anyone can throw some light on it

Yes, IOCL fuel pumps also support Fastag payments. I use Park+ IOCL GV and the same POS machine had the option of paying through Fastag too. The operator had no idea though. Unfortunately, my Fastag is not ICICI one and I don't want to change it right now.
