Hello everyone,

I thought it would be interesting to start a thread discussing the credit cards you're planning to apply for this year or have already applied in 2025.

Personally , I did not apply anything so far and looking to apply couple rupay credit cards preferably from PSU banks for rupay select benefits.

ICICI offered me an Amazon Pay card sharing the limit with my Emirates Skywards Sapphiro card. I took it. No KYC verification, just a refundable payment of Re. 1 from the existing card. It arrived in 2 days. I think I am gonna cancel 4-5 LTF cards which I haven't used for long.

For this year

Might take up:

SBI IRCTC Premier

Amex Smartearn

AU Ixigo/AU Lit

PNB Millenial/Union JCB Health/Union Divaa/Canara Rupay Select

HDFC Mariott Bonvoy

Aspire to:

HSBC Live+

Indusind Upgrade to Celesta/Indulge (basis equivalent Apay/Flipkart vouchers offer in lieu of Joining fee)

HDFC Biz Power LTF

Would have to close some cards. Evaluating other options especially LTF ones for potential offer based use case.

I have HSBC platinum. Booked flight tickets last time and got some good instant discount.

HSBC's new redemption options seems nice

Using HSBC platnium, 2 RPs per 150 and converting them into Accor points will give 1.2% return (along with instant discount is even better)
Pretty good for users who use basic cards to get 1% CB on offline and other spends.

Yes, saw the new reward structure. Looks promising.

Update: So just for the sake of using the New Rewards, I tried moving 2000 points to Etihad Guest. It was super easy and miles got credited within an hour. My Order number was 735, seems like I am under first 1k people, using their reward system. ;)

Planning to close SCB ultimate next month. It's a useless card now.
This year closed card so far:
Amex platinum reserve, Sbi elite
Cards I applied:
ICICI emeralde metal.

I am surprised you still hold SC Ultimate. The redemption options are useless now.

Yes unfortunately, wanted to cancel last year but they then charged me annual fee and I had an outstanding to be paid. So had to continue for a year but this year I'm sure to cancel it.

Yes if the use case and redemption options doesn’t suit then should definitely close it. It’s now a card with very limited use case.

Sharing my good experience with Rupay Credit Card on UPI. Hope it will help others to choose right credit card

I have been credit card fan since 20 years. Was happy with Visa/Master Credit card and bank accounts in private abnks like HDFC, ICICI and Axis. So when Rupay credit cards were introduced two years ago by PSU banks (only and first one was Indian bank I had never heard of) I did everything viz opening savings account as a qualifying criteria (Indian, UBI, Canara) and visiting their branches with copies of Aadhaar, PAN, IT return and payslips (Indian, UBI, Canara, PNB, BoI) and got Rupay credit card from all of them. Only BoB offered (and issued me) online Rupay card without a need of having savings account or visit to the bank branch. PNB offered (and issued me) Rupay credit card without a need of having savings account but by visiting bank branch. Let me state that I kept BoI rupay credit card for 2 years as it was not enabled on any UPI platform. So it was something very much unexpected of bank like BoI that was supposed to be considered few of PSU banks with good reputation.

My initial experience with Rupay credit card upi payment using many card was great considering that during earlier days, it offered good rewards and cashback though it is now limited in 2026 and may be very limited going forward for small transactional amounts. But convenience is the key. Expecting rewards earning with Rupay credit card using UPI is something I believe is not fair as many transactions are below Rs. 100 and MDR is not still not established.

Now after having ICICI Rupay card, planning to close all PSU bank Rupay cards. I also got Kotak Legends Rupay credit card. Few observations are - PNB and UBI started charging annual fees on credit card. Indian bank app, netbanking and customer care experience was not up to the mark when we are banking with ICICI, HDFC and Axis banks. BoI was very late to enable Rupay Card for UPI but absolutely no rewards and offers. Canara was decent but I did not want to hold many cards hence closed. I have kept BoB Easy Rupay credit card and use it on UPI. BoB UPI card offers cash back after accumulating points that is easy to redeem.

Now a days I observed that government websites and few private merchant websites do not allow Rupay credit card payment. Unless MDR is settled Rupay credit card payment acceptance cannot grow though there is growing acceptance at mom and dad stores.

Earlier when UPI was introduced, many merchant's started telling Visa Mastercard Discover credit card machine were not working and were happy to receive cash in their bank account via UPI. Few wholesale merchants even used savings account though it is illegal. While initially UPI payment with Rupay credit card did not hit merchants, but now I see many merchants are asking their banks not to accept Rupay credit card payment on UPI.

But for sure Rupay Credit Card on UPI is the future. So I see BoB & Canara are good PSU bank Rupay credit card.
