IndianOil RBL Bank vs XTRA Credit Card: Which Is Better in 2026?

IndianOil RBL Bank vs XTRA Credit Card

RBL Bank has two IndianOil credit cards. The regular IndianOil RBL Bank Credit Card comes at an annual fee of ₹500 + GST and gives 5% value back on IndianOil fuel spends. The XTRA version has an annual fee of ₹1500 + GST and pushes the reward rate to 7.5%.

XTRA is clearly the more rewarding card, but it also costs 3X more. So the better card depends mainly on how much you spend on fuel every month.

For moderate fuel spends, the regular card does the job well. You pay just ₹500 + GST and still get 5% value back on up to ₹10,000 of monthly IndianOil spends.

XTRA starts making more sense as the fuel bill moves higher. The extra 2.5% reward rate, bigger monthly cap and higher surcharge waiver can comfortably make up for the higher fee for frequent IndianOil users.

Annual Fee₹500 + GST₹1500 + GST
Fee Waiver Spend₹1.75L/year₹2.75L/year

Both cards return almost the entire base joining fee through welcome Fuel Points. The annual fee is where the difference matters. The regular card is easy to hold at ₹500 + GST. XTRA needs more fuel spends to justify ₹1500 + GST every year.

We would not divert spends to either card just to hit the annual fee waiver unless those spends would have gone on the card anyway.

Fuel Rewards: 5% vs 7.5%

Monthly Cap1000 FP2000 FP
Max Monthly Reward Value₹500₹1000
Fuel Spend Till Cap₹10,000~₹13,300

This is the biggest difference between the two cards. At ₹10,000 monthly fuel spend, the regular card earns ₹500 worth of Fuel Points. XTRA earns ₹750. That is ₹250 more every month, or ₹3000 over a year before annual fees.

How Much Do You Earn?

₹5000₹250₹375₹125
₹8000₹400₹600₹200
₹10,000₹500₹750₹250

These numbers exclude the fuel surcharge waiver and look only at Fuel Point value. At ₹2000-₹3000 monthly fuel spend, the regular card makes more sense. Around ₹5000, XTRA starts becoming interesting.

Once you are spending ₹8000-₹10,000 every month at IndianOil, XTRA is clearly the better card. The difference in rewards is large enough to comfortably cover the higher annual fee.

When Does XTRA Recover Its Higher Fee?

XTRA costs ₹1000 more before GST, or around ₹1180 more including GST. Since XTRA gives an additional 2.5% reward rate, the higher fee is roughly recovered at around ₹4000 of monthly fuel spends.

₹3000₹900
₹4000₹1200
₹5000₹1500
₹8000₹2400
₹10,000₹3000

On numbers alone, ₹4000/month is around the break-even point. In practice, we would prefer the regular card below ₹4000 and start looking seriously at XTRA from around ₹5000/month.

Neither card is particularly exciting for regular spends. The standard card gives only 0.5%, while XTRA improves that to 1%. We would still use a better cashback or rewards card for non-fuel spends.

XTRA also gives 1000 bonus Fuel Points on ₹75,000 of eligible spends in a calendar quarter.

The ₹100 cap on the regular card is enough for around ₹10,000 of qualifying fuel spends. XTRA doubles the waiver cap to ₹200, which is useful for higher fuel spends, though the reward rate remains the bigger reason to pick XTRA.

Reward Redemption

Both cards use the same redemption system. Fuel Points can be converted into IndianOil XTRAREWARDS Points, where the effective value works out to ₹0.50 per Fuel Point.

Which is Better? IndianOil RBL vs IndianOil RBL XTRA Credit Card

The IndianOil RBL Bank Credit Card is the better pick for moderate fuel spends. ₹500 + GST is easy to justify, and 5% value back on up to ₹10,000 monthly IndianOil spends is already quite good.

The IndianOil RBL Bank XTRA Credit Card is meant for heavier fuel users. The 7.5% reward rate, higher monthly cap and ₹200 surcharge waiver cap become useful once your fuel spend crosses roughly ₹5000/month.

If your IndianOil spends are around ₹2000-₹3000, we would save the annual fee and take the regular card. For ₹5000+ monthly fuel spends, XTRA deserves consideration. At ₹8000-₹10,000 a month, XTRA is easily the better of the two.
