I currently hold Regalia with 5.7 limit - It is not LTF, but I can comfortably cross the waiver limit with just insurance and other misc. stuff. As the reward rate is low, I tried applying for Diners Club black through the alumni program and received this reply, knowing well that it will not be ltf. My spending are mostly online and I can get the waiver too.

Interestingly, I have never asked for LTF but the executive went on about it😂

It seems DCB plastic is discontinued!

Also I had read here https://cardmaven.in/lifetime-free-hdfc-bank-diners-club-black-alumni-offer/ that it’s either limit or net-income for upgrade. My net is a little lower than 1.75, wondering how to approach it.

You can get the upgrade with your existing credit limit. Just send the form over email. Plastic DCB was discontinued shortly after Metal Edition launch.

So basically they have completely stopped DCB issuance under Alumni program. If u applied under that, it was LTF hence the executive mentioning that.

Also, to clarify, the mail is saying - can’t give u DCB alumni. If u want DCB metal, send us all the documents and we shall review your request and upgrade if it meets criteria.

If you have good relationship with the bank, you can apply and they may issue it as paid metal DCB.

If u can meet spends for fee waiver and are a traveller, it’s decent card.

I remember reading somewhere the DCB alumni program was back but they are offering only FYF.

HarshaVardhan no it isn’t. I know because I escalated to MD desk for it.

They will ask salary slips. It’s the above mail’s wording that is confusing honestly. I received the same reply and thought they are offering DCB metal instead. Turned out they arent pre-qualifying based on alumni anymore.

Saw the website posted, however still they are asking for salary slips. Process might change in a few days or by December 1st. All cards currently issued by HDFC are FYF.

They replied, denying the upgrade request. It’s such a weird sound email. I have planned spending for the next few months - about 2-3 lakh in insurance + other purchases combined. This puts me in a dilemma. To spend on Regalia or try for something else is the question now

Also what is your regalia limit ? because to upgrade to DCB a limit of 5L is needed.

If yes, tell them you wanted to apply under Alumni program. Also, which email I’d are you corresponding with?

When I was looking for Infinia, I remember sending an email almost every 2-3 months until it worked in my favor. So no Time limit. Just ensure to send email every time and not a follow upon previous mail.

VijayK on 1st December, mail them on greveiance as well as priority and tell them you want to opt for the DCB metal under Alumni program. If they ask for salary slips, just send your institute certificate/degree. Say you already have 5L limit and wish to upgrade.
